Art is all around us. We use each one of our senses to absorb it.
Drawing at the Met
So very proud of myself.
So, just to keep you in the loop (whoever you are), I've been taking a Drawing class at the Met (my favorite place in the whole world... you'll get sick of me saying that trust me) and I've been quite busy with my Script Analysis class as well (main reason why I haven't posted in a while). Mind you, I'm not very good at drawing the human figure and well I tend to lose my patience a lot when I draw anything because I can never get it to look like how I pictured it in my head. But this class has helped me a lot in both respects (patience and getting images out of my head and onto paper that is). Here are a few samples:

The Art Of Cooking
It occurred to me recently that I have been doing a lot of good cooking as of late. And yet... I never take pics of my own food (my boyfriend's always taking pics of food we eat when we go out... he's just silly that way). Last weekend, after an afternoon in Chuck-E-Cheese's with the kids, we were invited to a friend's "Iron Chef - Brooklyn" (it was at her house) and it was really fun. We made ceviche. Everyone liked it. I was so happy. I wasn't sure how they'd feel about eating raw fish, but i figure if they like sushi it wouldn't be a problem cos the lemon juice in the ceviche pretty much cooks the fish in a way.
(found a pic of this one in my camera... taken by my boyfriend of course... lol)
Then for mother's day Brian and I made an apple pie to take to my mom and sister. That was good too (even tho he didn't get to taste any), we're gonna make another one soon for us to enjoy.
A couple of weeks ago we invited the BLK JKS over for dinner and I made Aji de Gallina. And later on that week I made Posole. Both were really good if I do say so myself.
I plan on cooking a lot more now... cos well... I have the time. I'll try to take pictures from now on.

Long time no post...
Ok so I haven't posted anything since January. What can I say, lots of things going on... but unfortunately not very much on the creative/artistic aspect of myself... which is the purpose of this blog... thought about deleting it because I haven't had much to report and... well... because no one really goes on this page but google... lol. But then I figured I might as well just keep it even if only for myself...
Anyways... I did some more knitting and crocheting. Finally finished my friend's baby blanket...
and I made a new scarf for Meli (she lost the first one).
still working on Mari's bag... well actually, my mom's helping me put it together. All the crocheting is done, just need to assemble it and decorate it now.

Rag monster
So I finally picked up a pencil (haven't done that since '04). Unfortunately it shows...
This... is a concept sketch for a new character. It looked a lot different in my head... but you get the point. Anyway, there you have it... more to come... I hope soon. Still working on the knitting.

Old Lady...
So my daughter asks me the other day, "Mami, are you old?" I try to hold back my giggle and say, "No. Why?" "Because you are knitting and only old people knit on TV." So I told her anyone can knit, I learned when I was 9 (her age now) and she became very excited and interested to learn. My eldest picked up the knitting needles yesterday. She's pretty good actually. Very fast learner, though her patience ran thin quickly, I think she'll get the hang of it. She already knows how to crochet and made a quit in 3rd grade. So yeah... my girls are pretty handy with the home ec stuff (if that's even politically correct nowadays, one can never tell).
Yes, I have been doing a lot of knitting and crocheting as of late. Every year I like to make my Christmas presents as opposed to purchasing them. Not only is it more economical but I feel it adds a more personal touch as well.
A few things I've been working on:
A knit scarf I completed...
Two crocheted panels of a blanket I started years ago... :-/
and another knit scarf for my daughter, Melissa... I will be adding crocheted ends and tassels to this one...
I also started a baby's blanket last night. I have an idea of who I want to give it to but not sure yet...
